“An action repeated long enough stops being an action. It becomes a place.”

Biography

Drăghici turns small human actions into rituals of tension, duration and release.

Matei Drăghici creates moving-image works and performances built around gesture, repetition and the public body. His practice transforms minor actions into rituals of tension, duration and release.

Working across single- and multi-channel video, sound and live performance, he records what everyday life cannot hold — disappearance, latency, the distance between an action and its meaning.

For ALTAR, Drăghici represents a time-based practice that treats the body as both instrument and archive.
